In 1979, Lance Micklus released "Dog Star Adventure" for the TRS-80, a science fiction text adventure, and joined the world of commercial text adventures. He didn't release another one, although he did write a number of games, one of which (Trek III) was released by Adventure International.

The text adventure "Dog Star Adventure", which makes glancing references to Star Wars, was written for the TRS-80 but ported over time to the Commodore 64, Commodore PET, and a number of other machines, including a generic BASIC version that could run most anywhere.

There is affiliation listed out in the internet with this game with a company called "The Guild Adventure Software", but it is not clear what this is or how Lance was affiliated with them.

From Lance Micklus' excellent page about his company:

Lance Micklus, Inc. was born in September of 1979. Although it produced a number of computer games for the Radio Shack TRS-80, it was best known for its ST80 communication products. These were the first commercially marketed communication products that made it possible for microcomputers (now called PC's) to communicate with mainframe systems (now called servers). This simple concept laid the foundation for today's sophisticated client-server systems, and the Internet itself.

Graham Nelson, in the Inform Designers' Manual, awards a first to Dog Star Adventure:

So, parallel to the commercial market and at the cheaper end merging into it, hobbyists had had been devising their own adventures since at least May 1979, when Lance Micklus published "Dog Star Adventure" in a computing magazine. This was the first of many type-it-in-yourself games which some readers, at least, adapted and reworked as they typed. Scott Adams's "dventureland" source was itself published in Byte (1980) and, within a year, reworked into the core of Brian Howarth's rival "Mysterious Adventures".
